Taylah Steps Out of the Shadows

In the heart of personal struggle, Taylah made a call that changed the course of her life. Her personal story shows the power of a lifeline and the healing community that the Out of the Shadows Walk represents.

Just three weeks before the walk, Taylah found herself in a dark place, struggling with despair. She had wandered the streets for two harrowing hours, struggling with thoughts of ending her life. It was during this desperate moment that Taylah called Lifeline.

A heartfelt conversation with a Lifeline Crisis Supporter offered Taylah understanding, support and hope. That day the police were dispatched to go to Taylah, and introduce her to the help she needed.

Taylah’s journey with Lifeline extended beyond that initial call. She reached out to Lifeline during her hospital stays when she needed extra support; Taylah made it clear that when she felt unsupported or judged by those around her, she could count on Lifeline’s non-judgmental care.

The Out of the Shadows Walk was a special moment for Taylah, as it allowed her to connect with a community that understood her struggles, connecting with a fellow ‘walker’ who had been through similar mental health challenges and was now actively involved in helping others in the same situation.

When asked about her feelings toward Lifeline and the Out of the Shadows Walk, Taylah encouraged others to seek help without hesitation.

Taylah’s message is clear – Lifeline is there, when we need it most. The Out of the Shadows Walk, with its community of individuals who have faced similar challenges, brought her comfort and strength.

As we honour the Out of the Shadows Walk, we celebrate stories like Taylah’s that shine a light on the path to recovery, resilience, and community.

And we give thanks to you, because of your support Taylah’s call was answered.
