Queenslanders are tough. They have persevered in trying times. Showing up to help a mate and even strangers.

With the recent floods in Maryborough, Gympie, and surrounding areas, Queenslanders put up their hands and asked in true neighbourly spirit: “How can I help?”.

For the people and communities in these places, stress has become a major issue. Some may have lost their homes, others their livelihoods. Many will be facing financial hardships, often followed by family and relationship conflicts. All leading to extremely high levels of stress.

Right now, 15 Lifeline Community Disaster Staff are out walking the front line. Working to assist people in their healing process. This includes lending a listening and empathetic ear, providing information, referrals, and advice at the Community Recovery Hub–and preparing spaces for community meetings.

Our Community Recovery team have developed plenty of Toolkits to help you, and others in the Queensland community, work through some of the challenges faced during times of disaster. You can access these on our main website at lifelineqld.org.au/get-help/.

Help is always available. You are not alone.
