Thanks to your compassion, Lifeline Queensland’s trained volunteers are responding to record numbers of people reaching out for support.

Since July 2024, our ten centres have responded to an incredible 58,885 requests for help through calls, texts, and online chats from people needing someone to listen.

These numbers reflect the increasing need for crisis support in our communities and tell an important story – more people are reaching out for help, and thanks to your support, we’re able to be there when they do.

“Every call answered represents a moment when someone wasn’t alone in their distress,” shares Donna Shkalla, Group Executive – Lifeline Queensland.

“Through donor support, we’re able to train more volunteers to meet this growing need, ensuring more Queenslanders can access help when they need it most.”

The challenges facing our communities are significant. Cost of living pressures, social isolation, and confronting events have led to increased distress across Queensland.

Hope grows through connection – since July 2024, 358 people have attended our Crisis Support Worker Training information sessions, with 109 students currently completing their training.

Your generosity helps ensure that when someone reaches out, there’s a caring voice ready to answer.

Each trained volunteer can support up to 96 people every month. With more volunteers needed, your support is vital in helping expand our volunteer training programs.

“Behind every call is a person reaching out for connection,” Donna explains. “When people contact us, they’re taking that brave first step towards hope. Thanks to our supporters, we can be there to answer.”

Thank you for helping ensure no Queenslander faces their darkest moments alone.
