Taking care of you

You give so much. Your heart. Your time. Your resources to help others find hope.

The same compassion that drives you to support Lifeline Queensland – that deep understanding that everyone deserves care extends to you too. Especially you.

Stress doesn’t discriminate. It creeps in when we’re focused on helping others, when we’re carrying the weight of the world’s pain, when we forget that our own wellbeing matters just as much as those we’re trying to help.

Start small. Breathe deeply for four counts, hold for four, exhale for six. Feel your shoulders drop. Notice the ground beneath your feet.

Move your body, even if it’s just dancing to one song in your kitchen. Call someone who makes you laugh.

Watch something that brings you comfort instead of scrolling through more heartbreak. Take an afternoon nap without guilt.

Step outside for five minutes and let fresh air remind you that you’re alive, you’re here, you matter.

Your self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential. When you care for yourself, you’re modelling the very thing Lifeline Queensland teaches: that every person deserves support, kindness, and hope. Including the person looking back at you in the mirror.

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Fill yours first.

The world needs your compassion. But it needs you healthy and whole to give it.
